  • 4e7ac19: 2016-12-02 -0800 script: Use a timer when rAF is used for non-animation purposes
After this patch, when the page calls `requestAnimationFrame()` too many times in the row without actually mutating the DOM, further calls to `rAF` will actually perform the moral equivalent of `setTimeout(16)`. This saves a lot of CPU time compared to actually waiting for the vertical blanking interval, because waiting for that requires us to draw the page. Reduces CPU usage drastically on nytimes.com, which has a perpetual `requestAnimationFrame()` loop that checks whether ads are in view.

  • 694b688: 2016-12-01 -0800 Workaround for intermittent failure in img_width_attribute_intrinsic_width_a.html.
This test previously used smiling.png as the image reference. The OSMesa rasterizer occasionally has a very small difference (1-2 pixels off by 1/255) when rendering this reftest. Instead, change to use green.png which doesn't suffer from this inaccuracy during bilinear sampling and upscaling.

  • b5d51dd: 2017-09-30 +0200 Switch to using WebRender hit testing
This trades quite a bit of complicated code in Servo for few more messages and a significant performance improvement. In particular, WebRender can search the entire display list at once instead of ping-ponging down the pipeline tree. This allows us to send mouse events to the correct pipeline immediately.

  • dfd12d7: 2017-09-28 +0300 stylo: Don't serialize default position on -moz- prefixed linear gradient
Normally, we should not serialize if the line direction points downwards. Unprefixed and -webkit- prefixed syntaxes use only Keyword enum for line direction and we check them already. But -moz- prefixed linear gradients can store position too. Therefore it's stored inside `LineDirection::MozPosition` and we should check that for consistency between other gradients.

  • fcef92f: 2017-01-28 -0800 webgl: Fix handling of UNPACK_ALIGNMENT.
We were setting it to whatever value from {1,2,4,8} the user requested and otherwise ignoring it. There were two problems there: 1) Validation ignored it, so GL could read outside of the user's array in TexImage() or TexSubImage() if the aligment was greater than cpp. 2) TexImage()/TexSubImage() from image/canvas sources wasn't packing its data according to the unpack alignment. To fix this, start tracking the user-requested alignment in the DOM side of the context. Set the GL's alignment to 1 for image/canvas sources or the user's value for array sources, and pass the user's alignment in to validation so that it can figure out the correct size of image that the GL will ready.

  • 0eb7d65: 2017-10-11 -0500 Limit visited cascade for reparenting
The specialized cascade flow in `stylist::compute_style_with_inputs` (used with reparenting) currently computes all properties for visited styles, but we only need visited-dependent properties. This adds the cascade flag to reduce the work to visited-dependent properties only, like we do for the regular cascade flow. MozReview-Commit-ID: FGCj6GPnQOB

  • 4f53ca2: 2017-08-21 +0900 Expand var() references in single_value_to_css
This is a temporary step needed to support Gecko's getKeyframes() API until we implement bug 1391537. It only takes effect when a ComputedValues object is supplied and only for longhand declarations.
  • 9ecb0aa: 2017-08-16 +0900 Don't allow interpolating 'fill:none' with 'fill:none'( Although SMIL doesn't make this entirely clear, [1] says that "by animation" and "from-by animation" may only be used "with attributes that support addition (e.g. most numeric attributes)" and [2] says that s are "only additive if each value can be converted to an RGB color". As a result, the animation above should have no effect. By extrapolation, animating from 'none' by 'none' should also have no effect: However, in Servo's interpolation of s we special case the interpolation and addition of 'none' such that if both values are 'none' it is allowed. We should disallow this in order to produce the expected behavior and in order to match Gecko's behavior. • d3e4d29: 2014-12-03 -0800 Fixed #4170 - Incremental reflow wasn't being aggressive enough when nodes get reparented.
When inserting a node that was already dirtied, the dirtying logic would short circuit: "This node is already dirty? Great! Then its parents must be HAS_DIRTY_DESCENDANTS, too! Let's skip that step." This isn't appropriate when nodes move around the tree. In that case, the node may be marked HAS_CHANGED, but ancestors may not yet have the HAS_DIRTY_DESCENDANTS flag set. This patch adds a `content_and_heritage_changed` hook in the document, to deal with these cases appropriately.

  • 6d93098: 2017-09-13 -0400 align selectors's features in geckolib and stylo_tests
Gecko would like to turn on the stylo layout tests (tests/unit/stylo) in Gecko CI. The plan for doing this is to add the tests as a dev-dependency of Gecko's main Rust library, from which `cargo test` can be run in the usual fashion. Doing this creates problems for normal development, because the stylo tests need the `selectors` crate to be compiled with `gecko_like_types`, whereas the `geckolib` crate does not. So if we compile `geckolib` in a non-test build configuration, the `selectors` crate is compiled without `gecko_like_types`...but then if we compile `geckolib` in a test build configuration, cargo will evict the previous rlib for the `selectors` crate and replace it with a `selectors` compiled with gecko_like_types. And then compiling `geckolib` in a non-test configuration repeats the process, and so forth. Needless to say, this is highly annoying behavior. It is due to a bug in cargo: https://github.com/rust-lang/cargo/issues/3923 but it's not known when that bug will get fixed. In the meantime, we can just make sure that geckolib's `selectors` is compiled with the same features as the `selectors` crate in the stylo tests.

  • 21148c7: 2017-09-11 +0800 stylo: do not handle the fallback discrete animation inside the Animate trait.
At present, we do the fallback discrete animation for non-invertible matrices in ComputedMatrix.animate(). However, according to the spec, we should fallback to discrete animation for cases like: 1. animation between transform with single non-invertible matrix 2. animation between transform with matched transform functions that have at least one non-invertible matrix 2. animation between transform with mismatched transform functions that have at least one non-invertible matrix. The current implementation only handles the first case. Moreover, we already have fallback discrete animation procedures in CSS Animation and Web Animation, so we should be able to not doing any fallback inside the Animate trait. In this patch, we let the animation between non-invertible matrices to return Err(). So, we can propagate the Err() to the callers, and let the fallback discrete animation procedure stay at the Servo_MatrixTransform_Operate, which is ouside the Animate trait.

  • b666718: 2017-10-12 -0400 Correctly test CSSStyleRule.style.
Remove the assert_readonly test and add one to verify that assigning to CSSStyleRule.style correctly forwards to CSSStyleRule.style.cssText. We currently test for whether CSSStyleRule.style is read-only by trying to assign to it; however, the spec has it as actually: interface CSSStyleRule : CSSRule { ... [SameObject, PutForwards=cssText] readonly attribute CSSStyleDeclaration style; }; See: https://drafts.csswg.org/cssom/ The `PutForwards=cssText` means that assigning to CSSStyleRule.style should actually assign to style.cssText.

  • 4d14f1e: 2016-11-02 +0100 layout/context: Wrap `image_cache_thread` in a `Mutex<>` as well
`SharedLayoutContext.image_cache_thread` didn't get the `Mutex<>` treatment along with all the other channels in there, because `ipc-channel::Sender` is presently inherently `Sync`. I believe this to be an implementation accident though, that should be rectified in the future -- not something users should actually rely on... Note that sharing senders (be it `mpsc` or `ipc-channel`) in is probably not a good idea anyway: just cloning them -- and letting them handle the sharing internally -- should be both simpler and cheaper. But right now that's how things are handled here; so let's go with the flow...

  • 543703e: 2015-10-06 +0200 Move Stylesheet loading and ownership from the layout task into HTML elements(). Additionally, the quirks mode stylesheet (just as the user and user agent stylesheets a couple of commits ago), is implemented as a lazy static, loaded once per process and shared between all documents. This all has various nice consequences: - Stylesheet loading becomes a non-blocking operation. - Stylesheets are removed when the element they're associated with is removed from the document. - It'll be possible to implement the CSSOM APIs that require direct access to the stylesheets (i.e., ~ all of them). - Various subtle correctness issues are fixed. One piece of interesting follow-up work would be to move parsing of external stylesheets to the resource task, too. Right now, it happens in the link element once loading is complete, so blocks the script task. Moving it to the resource task would probably be fairly straight-forward as it doesn't require access to any external state.">...)
